why do smart devices always stop working when u need them most

Okay, legit, is it just me or do smart devices have some kinda sixth sense for when you absolutely, positively NEED them to work? Like, trying to set an alarm for an early class and Siri decides to go on vacay. Or trying to cast a show for a chill night and my smart TV is just like 'nah, error 404, connection lost.' BRUH.
